How to Counter the Top Threats in Pokémon Champions

1 min read

Pokémon Champions moves fast. The moment a top player ladders a new win condition, the rest of the room scrambles to answer it. This page tracks how to counter the current top threats in Pokémon Champions, built straight from usage data on our Team Explorer and the live meta page.

Every sub-guide below walks through a single threat: its dominant spread, the moves that actually hit you, and the cheapest answers that already exist on the Champions roster. Each one opens with a big sprite so you can keep it pinned to a second monitor while you draft.

The guides

How to read a counter guide

Every sub-article follows the same skeleton so you can skim them between games:

  • What the threat is doing. Dominant item, ability, and spread from the verified-teams build set. If one spread owns >40% of appearances, assume that's what you're facing.
  • What it actually breaks. A short list of realistic 2HKOs and OHKOs against common glue Pokémon, rendered through our embedded damage calculator.
  • Your answers. Champions-legal Pokémon that pivot into, outspeed, or cleanly revenge it — with EV and item notes tuned to the 66-EV cap.
  • Pitfalls. The clever-sounding counter that dies to the threat's coverage move.

  • Browse the whole roster on the Pokédex when you need an answer that isn't listed here.
  • Use the Speed Tiers chart to pre-commit to a Scarf, Jolly, or Choice line.
  • Draft the answer directly in the Team Builder, then stress-test it in the Damage Calculator.
